The following plugins are recommended for Wordpress:

  • Caches content so that Wordpress loads faster
• BackWPup - https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/
  
  • You can never have to many backups
• WP Mail SMTP- https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/
  
  • This plugin is for sending mail from Wordpress via SMTP authentication.  You would use the same settings that you use for mail clients, though a mailbox for this purpose is recommended.
• Disable Comments - https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-comments/
  
  • This plugin is to stop spammers from posting comments on your site's content and thus using your time to delete them / moderate them.
